Our First Medical Flight

In 1989, while working at Luksenberg Tours (founded by his father in 1971), Michael Luksenberg received a very special request. He was asked to fly a patient needing heart and lung transplants to UCLA Hospital in Los Angeles. The request came from the renowned Rabbi Elimelech Fierer, founder and CEO of Ezra L'marpe, a voluntary organization devoted to the proper diagnosis and treatment of those facing serious medical problems.

After his first successful medical airlift, Michael Luksenberg discovered a wider need for medical flights, prompting him to establish a medical department inside Luksenberg Tours. Shortly thereafter, he founded Luksenberg Medical Assistance. The company grew quickly, airlifting hundreds of passengers in need of urgent medical treatment.
